During this time, our staff is working remotely to keep themselves and their loved ones safe. We regularly sanitize and disinfect all working surfaces, practice social distancing, and wear masks whenever coming into contact indoors for more than 15 minutes with members of our team outside of our household. Yes. We are only able to accept returns of items in new condition, unwashed, and in original packaging. This is to keep our team safe during this time. We will still accept returns for any items that arrive damaged, but ask that you provide photographs of the damage. We do this to limit the need to ship items back whenever possible, for the environment and to keep everyone safe.
The short answer is - it depends on the product. Our items are unique and made in small batches all over the world. Although we try to centralize distribution, it may take some time to process and receive your order. Quality, handmade items are not made at lightning speed. We will make sure to let you know the average times on EACH product page, so you can decide if you would like to wait. We also offer expedited shipping options for an additional fee.
Pre-order means our artisans are hard at work creating the next batch of product. This means that within 1-3 weeks, we will be able to ship your product. You can pre-order the product for a discounted price, or wait for the product to re-stock and place the order at a later time at the regular price. If a pre-order item becomes unavailable we will cancel your order and let you know. When it becomes available, we will process your order and provide an order confirmation that your purchase is on the way. Pre-order products are our most popular items and sell out within days.
The wishlist can be used as a registry or just a notation for yourself that you like a product, but are not yet ready to make the purchase. You are able to share your wishlist with family and friends, and also create event specific lists - such as a birthday list and a holiday list.
Depending on which products you order, they may ship from different warehouse locations. For this reason, you may have multiple trackings per order, and items may arrive on different days.

There are many reasons. One is the reduction of environmental impact from less waste, transportation and infrastructure. Oftentimes, artisans use natural products they can grow or cultivate themselves to save costs and to keep their businesses alive. This results in an environmentally friendly process, and also produces products that are naturally derived and safer than synthetics. Artisans sell these products to tourists directly in their villages, which reduces the needs for several middlemen in the logistics chain.
It is also an industry that is in jeopardy of extinction due to competition from sweatshops and large manufacturing facilities, which can offer a mass-produced, inferior product but at a lower cost. A single artisan product can take weeks and sometimes months to create a product . They need to charge a fair price in order to sustain life and continue to create their art. We believe that what is made by hand is unique, it is art, and it needs to be protected. We are committed to preserving the craft any way that we can.

About 85% of the time, our products are made from natural fiber raw materials that are sustainable and ethically sourced. This includes yarns, threads, dyes, woods, and most other ingredients you find in our products. We clearly state on each product page what the item is made from, and if it is entirely or partially natural and/or handmade. On occasion, to offer a hypoallergenic option, we may include synthetic blends as an option to clients, such as with pillow inserts. We understand that some clients may have sensitivities or allergies, and aim to offer some synthetic alternatives that are created in ways that meet our standards.
From experience, our family has never kept an insert from a throw/decorative pillow or cushion. We generally like the design, but are not fans of the traditional "stuffing" feel. We prefer them to be moldable, stuffed with high-quality downs, to hold their shape when styled, but soft, forgiving and comfortable when curled up and in use. This comes from the best quality down inserts, but not everyone can handle living around feathers. Understandably, pillow inserts are a huge personal preference! To save on the waste of discarded inserts and to avoid having to sacrifice our down insert preference, we offer the covers unstuffed so you can choose your favorite look and feel for your home. We know this takes a bit longer to put together, but will result in a pillow you cherish for years to come.

In many cases we find our products through our family's own personal network, and subsequently word of mouth. We are a multi-cultural family with extended family and friends in many different countries. We believe in sharing the unique culture and creations of these amazing places with the rest of the world. We also research cooperatives and connect through organizations looking to preserve the artisan way of life in remote small towns and villages. Lastly, we work with small, mostly family owned manufacturers, which specialize in hand-weaving or hand-looming and operate in a fair and ethical way. This may mean paying more for our products, but it is the right thing to do.
